F.A.Q.

Why study abroad?

If you open the classified section of your daily newspaper you will find that most companies that pay good salaries expect their prospective employees to have a degree and/or experience from abroad. Hence, studying abroad will strongly enhance your employability. There is also no better way to improve language and cross-cultural communication skills than studying abroad (a stay abroad). Last but not least, studying abroad is a fun experience that will give you the opportunity to make friends and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Why study in Europe?

The EU is the biggest economy in the world. Renowned for its culture, innovation, tradition and diversity, Europe hosts the world's oldest universities in continuous operation and maintains a high standard of academic excellence. At the same time you will find Europe's university education very affordable when compared to the United States, Great Britain or Australia. Especially in Germany financial savings can be enormous.

Can Study Europe make things easier for me?

Unfortunately, setting up your life in Europe has been a notoriously hard task to accomplish. The sheer variety of options and the confusing amount of detail that need to be considered can cause a lot of frustration. It is our objective to spare you this frustration. We can help you choose a course and a university.

We will provide you with an initial assessment of your enrolment chances, handle all legal and academic paperwork, including visa, university, and work permit applications. Furthermore, we also provide general assistance such as initial accommodation, setting up a bank account, selecting an insurance provider, finding a suitable kindergarten for children, etc.

Who can study abroad?

In general if you have a high school diploma or something comparable you can be enrolled at a European university.

For an initial assessment of your qualifications and enrolment chances we will need certificates of your educational qualifications (especially the high school diploma in English or German language). This initial assessment by Study Europe is free of charge!

If you want to study in Europe, but your high school diploma is not available yet, you also have the chance to take the University Entrance Examination for international students in Germany. This so called Studienkolleg will take around one year. After successfully passing this test you can also be enrolled at a university in Germany.

When should I study abroad?

In theory you can begin studying abroad as soon as you receive your high school diploma.

But of course you can also start studying at a European university after some semesters of study in your home country.

You must not even study at a university; it is also possible that you only attend a language school to learn a European language, e.g. German, Italian, French or Spanish.

When should I start making plans for studying abroad?

You should begin planning as early as possible but at least one semester before you actually depart.

How long should I study abroad?

It is possible to stay abroad for only one semester. However, if you want to obtain a degree you have to plan for a longer stay. In general you need around 8-10 semesters to finish a full Master's or Bachelor degree or earn a Diploma.

You can also just attend a language school and practice or learn a European language, for just a couple of months or maybe a year or more.

Can I afford to study in Europe?

Studying in Europe, especially studying in Germany, is much cheaper than going to the United States, the UK or Australia. Among other things tuition fees are much lower resp. non-existent.

This makes Europe an affordable destination for students, who might not be able to pay the tuition fees in other parts of the world, but still value a quality education.

On average, you have to pay around 10000 - 15000 EUR per year in study fees in the United States, Australia, or the UK.

In Europe, study fees usually don't exceed 2000 EUR per year and are much lower than that in most cases. Inmost German states there are no study fees at all. So you can save around 15000 EUR per year when you study in Germany, an amount that will also be more than enough to cover all your living expenses and even allow you up travel around Europe.

Foreign students also receive excellent health insurance and are allowed to work and earn money during their stay in Europe - the necessary work permit can be obtained through us.

Are there really no study fees in Europe?

In Europe study fees vary. In general you don't have to pay more than 2000 EUR per semester. In Germany in most states there are no study fees at all.

How can I find the right program for me?

The main task is realistically assessing your academic preparation and researching programs that fit the education that you have received so far while also enhancing your career chances. We also suggest that you carefully consider some preliminary questions, such as whether you want to live in a big city or a smaller town. If you need help, you can contact us under: info@study-eu.org.

Do I have to speak German when I study at a German university?

Some courses or programs at German universities are in English. But most of the courses or programs are in German. For attending these courses or programs the universities require a passed German test, e.g. TestDaf.

Study Europe will enroll you at a language school where you can learn German and take he necessary tests. Depending on your pre-existing knowledge of German, the language school program can take up to one year.
